Relocating to a new city has been one of the most exciting parts of my new year. For me, it's also, definitely, one of the most exciting parts of moving to a new city. Even if you've spent the year learning a new language and making friends-or even just part of the way through an undergrad-learning about both moving and living in a city is transformational. And the part of moving that requires planning and a bit of foresight depends on how much you know about the new locale and how much you can afford.

Here's where to start. Assuming that your move will be okay? Here are some tips for making it through:


Start with an online store and/or Craigslist


First things first: when you move, don't go into your new city store with a Wide World of Things to Do and Catalog (Wycle bin!). Instead, head to a local WO Depot near your old home and pick one up. You'll want to make sure that you've got the old clothes, tools, and old household items to sell in the new place.
